Lyfjaberg it is named,
And it has long been
A solace to the sick and sore;
A woman will be cured
Even of the year-malady
Should she climb it.
Some of the (maidens)
Protect those who worship them
At the holy altar;
They will free the sons of men
From any danger,
However great the need.

Mengloth the healing goddess has long been called upon by those who cannot be healed by other means. That is partly why her fortress is high on a mountaintop and heavily guarded: she does not waste her time on those who can get easier help elsewhere. Her forte is the unusual, the difficult, the unexplainable, the hopeless. Her maidens will help less desperate folk, but Mengloth gives healing when all other options have been exhausted.
We encourage folk who come across this shrine to page through the descriptions of Mengloth's handmaidens, in case one of them specializes in your problem, and to promise an offering (according to the offerings page) and light a candle to ask for help. If the problem is not one covered by the handmaidens, or is especially acute, make your offering and light your candle for Mengloth, and she will do her best to aid you as she sees fit. It is always acceptable to pray for aid to the Powers That Be, as people have been doing for thousands of years. Hail to the Ladies of Lyfjaberg!
