I light this candle in honor of my ancestors both known and unknown.
Lit Sat August 21, 2021
I light this candle in memory of all my ancestors, named and nameless, known and unknown, remembered and forgotten, from all of my lineages. May they know that even those whose names are long-lost are still honoured, and that we are grateful for those who have gone before us. This candle I also light for those who have no descendants to light for them. May their souls find peace in knowing that they, too, are honoured and not forgotten.
