By the Moon passing overhead

By the hoofbeats of Night’s black horse

By the heat of a lazy summer field

By moth and flame, by fly and web,

We call you and hail you, Dark One,

Glittering One, Shining One,

Lady of the Dream Country,

Visited by us all.

By the dragonfly upon the lake

By the shimmer of dew on leaves

By a thousand petals in the spring wind

By a double handful of spiral shells

By the stone that we picked up

When we were seven, and kept it

Close to our hearts, and held it up

To the reflecting light of dawn,

We call you and hail you, Dark One,

Glittering One, Shining One,

Lady of the Dream Country

Who calls from far away.
