Thank you, Kári, for your name (which I was given) and for my life. Other winds than that of the north filled the literal and metaphorical sails of my childhood; I never knew snow. Now, grown, I thank you for giving me the chance to know you as you are. Thank you for teaching me of the cold, of fresh air, and of the coming of winter storms. Hail Kári, lord of the cold winds that blow where I now call home, brother of Ägir, lord of the ocean of my childhood. Hail, mighty lord, and thank you.
