Thank you, Jord, for the beauty of autumn. It is no easy thing, watching the summer pass--not the bright growing days of the year, nor the fertile motherhood years of our lives. To those of us who are more crones now than mothers, who face the dark and the cold to come, the burst of color is both consolation and challenge. It is not too late to create beauty.
Lit Tue October 11, 2011Hail Jord!
Hail Jord!
Hail Lady of the Good Earth!
I hear Your green-children giggling as they gulp the goodness that Thunar's Hammer wrenched from the sky.
I hear them mimicking Oliver Twist...'Please, Sir, I'd like some more...'
I hear Your brown-children singing 'squish-squish' as I walk across my yard.
I hear You sigh with delight as You soak in the blessed rain.
Hail Lady of the Good Earth, and Thunar, too.
The recent rains have been much needed on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Thank You.

Lady of the Good Earth -
How may we ease your pain?
Burned and scorched earth in Texas,
Fields, barren, brittle, broken.
How uncomfortable this must be for You.
What balm do we, Mortals upon Midgard, have that will soothe your parched, cracked flesh?
What Midwife's skill may we draw upon to bring through to Birth the Good that this Summer's Ordeal carries within it?

Jord, please help me preserve the wildness within me and protect me from those who would have me tame and the same.
For this, I will always treasure my wild side and aid all wild things when I may.
