Hail to thee, great master of the hunt, blessed be thy sacrifice in the name of wisdom, thy hunger for the depth of all worlds! Hail berserker, knower of change! Hail o merciless relentless father of truth! Of thee I humbly ask that my son be allowed to uncover his and your wisdom through his chosen endeavor, his chosen rite of passage into manhood. May he be granted the honour of serving you in the hills and forests of the wild country, and within the darkened wood, the mountains, the valleys, the oceans of his own soul. May his wisdom outstrip his suffering.
For this, I will offer to you my surrender, my gratitude, my love, for all that is wrought through pain. I will remember your sacrifice and teach my son that to have wise power, one must be unswayed by fear of losing oneself. I will make you a rich and bloody stew, and we shall eat it together.
