Boat Blessing Charm
If you have a boat of any sort, make a Njord good-luck-at-sea charm for it. I've used the following items:
-A small bag of blue cloth, filled with earth from a sacred place in your home area and a single cooked fishbone, for safe return home. Tie to it:
-A small charm shaped like a ship for soundness.
-A small charm shaped like a fish for good luck.
-A white string with seven knots for god weather.
-A small wooden disc burned with Njord's bind rune - a combination of Laguz (water) and Ehwaz (horse; the boat is a water-steed). Basically, it looks like the M-shaped Ehwaz rune with its vertical "posts" also being the uprights for a forward-and-backward Laguz, so it's an Ehwaz with little tails off of each side.
Hang it in the cabin of the boat, or carry it with you when you go on the water. The first time that you take your charm onto your boat, pour out some gin overboard as an offering to him. If you have friends with boats - and especially friends who use their boats commercially, for fishing or for passengers - make one for them as a gift (along with the gin and the instructions). Njord's blessing is a good thing to carry.
