For the Fire-Maiden
by Seawalker
Ashes, Ashes, all fall down.
I loved you first, childhood sweetheart,
Wholly flame, you did not see
My twisted blood of Jarnvidr
Pouring through veins like the River of Knives,
Sharp, metallic, whirling pain as it went.
I could not help but follow to my father's
Land, as one day I would eventually
Follow to Asgard. It's something about
Not being wanted there, it draws me
Like a magnet, and I must prove myself,
Make a place there for my wyrd.
Make my mark.
You were wise to leave me,
Take your daughters from my twisted wyrd,
Take them far away and never let them
Know their father, until they were grown
And I was bound. And yet I carry your memory,
First flame to light my heart,
And I wish you all the luck that flame can bring.
