Prayer to Andvari
by Fuensanta Arismendi
Andvari, Lord of deep places,
grant me knowledge.
Teach me to distinguish between what I truly own
and what was put in my hands to flow elsewhere.
Root me in that knowledge,
and let that knowledge take root in me.
Andvari, Lord of deep consequences,
grant me the gift of wisdom.
Teach me to choose my food wisely,
for the earth is not mine to plunder.
Teach me to use energy sparingly,
for the climate is not mine to change.
Root me in that wisdom
and let that wisdom take root in me.
Andvari, Lord of deep understanding,
grant me the gift of honesty.
Teach me to own my faults and their consequences.
Teach me to hold my baggage if I cannot rid myself of it.
Root me in that honesty,
and let that honesty take root in me.
Andvari, Lord of deep emotions,
grant me the gift of reverence.
Teach me to respect all resources,
whether they be mine or not.
Teach me to respect all money,
whether I may own it or not.
Root me in that reverence
and let that reverence take root in me.
Andvari, Lord of deep insight,
grant me the gift of self-esteem.
Teach me that what I am is unassailable by what others think.
Teach me that what I am is unassailable
even by my own judgement.
Root me in self-esteem
and let self-esteem take root in me.
